Scott Weier
Vice President
Scott Weier is a Vice President with The Glover Park Group, specializing in public affairs and health policy.
Before joining The Glover Park Group, Weier managed strategic communications for Avalere Health, a D.C.-based strategic consulting firm focused on health policy and business. At Avalere, Weier worked across content teams, spearheading strategic communication engagements for a wide range of pharmaceutical, foundation, device, managed care, and association clients. His work touched the full spectrum of health policy issues, including hot-button topics such as comparative-effectiveness research, health information technology, long-term care, and reimbursement.
Prior to joining Avalere, Weier spent several years in the editorial world, managing publications for the Advisory Board Company, the California HealthCare Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). He was the editor of iHealthBeat and the Daily Briefing and part of a small editorial team that launched news digests on the RWJF website. In addition to these full-time posts, Weier freelanced for MSN.com, Citysearch.com, and AOL.com.
Weier has also worked for strategic communications firms in London, New York, and Washington, D.C., supporting brand strategy for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s “Above the Influence” antidrug social marketing campaign, Pepsi, and DC Central Kitchen, among others. In addition, while in graduate school, he collaborated with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to define risk communication guidelines for emerging health communication technologies.
Weier earned a joint Masters in Public Health and Masters in Business Administration from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Md., and received a B.A. in English and Communication from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
