Morna Willens
Vice President
Morna Willens specializes in Government Affairs, providing clients with public policy and strategic communication advice on issues including, intellectual property, telecommunications, technology and media policy. She provides expertise in a wide range of disciplines to assist clients in the definition of goals and in developing the right strategies to accomplish desired objectives.
Before joining GPG, Willens worked for over 8 years at the Recording Industry Association of America. As a senior member of the Government Relations department she was responsible for working to protect intellectual property rights and the First Amendment rights of artists; and representing the larger interests of the recording industry on Capitol Hill. Through the years, Willens has developed a wide network of contacts on the Hill and in Federal agencies as well as in the Washington government relations, technology and entertainment communities
Willens began her legislative career on Capitol Hill, spending five years working for member s on the House Judiciary and Commerce Committees. She was a senior advisor to Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), current Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Energy. During her tenure in the office she specialized in telecommunications policy, technology and consumer protection.
Originally from Illinois, Willens holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Communication Studies. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and four children.
