Melanie Nathanson
Managing Director
Melanie Nathanson is a Managing Director at The Glover Park Group and specializes in government relations, strategic planning and public policy. Nathanson has strong expertise in health care policy and while at The Glover Park Group, has supported a range of clients in advancing their health care agendas including: the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield and PCMA, the Maintaining AntiTrust for Consumer Healthcare Coalition and the National Women’s Law Center.
Nathanson has designed strategic plans for client companies on a range of health related issues, secured inclusion of key provisions in legislation (some of which have since become law), administered and bolstered coalitions and advanced strategic alliances with legislators and their staffs as well as organizations critical to Capitol Hill for her clients.
Nathanson joined The Glover Park Group from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a leading think tank in Washington D.C., where she was the Director of the Federal Budget Initiative. From 2002-2004, Nathanson was a Senior Health Policy Analyst at CBPP at which time she focused on Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP issues. In between, she served as the Administrative Director for Strategic Planning and Public Policy at Miami Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Prior to joining CBPP in 2002, Nathanson was the Senior Policy Advisor for Health and Income Security for Senator Bob Graham of Florida while he served as a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee. She was also a senior legislative assistant for Sandy Levin covering health, human resources and social security issues before the House Ways and Means Committee.
Nathanson was a lecturer at the University of Miami. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Tulane University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Miami (FL).
