Kevin Madden
Managing Director
Kevin Madden is a Managing Director in the Public Affairs division of The Glover Park Group. Madden joined the division after serving as a top strategist to many of the nation’s most influential power players.
Most recently Madden served as National Press Secretary and Senior Communications Strategist for Governor Mitt Romney’s 2008 presidential campaign. While leading Governor Romney’s national campaign communications operation, Madden served as a top media strategist and the campaign’s chief spokesman. He helped design and execute a strategic communications effort that was hailed by the Los Angeles Times as “hard-working, well-organized and quick off-the-mark.” He anchored what The Independent of London asserted was “the most sophisticated of all the press operations” among the many Republican and Democrat presidential campaigns. U.S. News & World Report noted Madden’s reputation for running a “lean operation, an intense focus and a positive message.”
Madden directed the message strategy designed to promote Governor Romney’s major speeches, policy initiatives and political events. He also served as one of Governor Romney’s top surrogates, appearing on the national news programs of NBC News and CBS News. Madden is also frequently called upon to serve as a commentator on the media and politics on CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Bloomberg and the BBC among others.
Prior to joining Governor Romney’s campaign, Madden served as Press Secretary to House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and as Communications Director to House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX). In that capacity, Madden served as the top communications strategist for the House of Representatives leadership office charged with directing legislative action on a wide range of issues.
Prior to serving on Capitol Hill, Madden served as the Department of Justice’s national spokesman on issues ranging from national security to litigation before the federal courts. While at Justice, Madden developed and executed the successful strategic communications plan that helped usher the USA PATRIOT Act national security legislation towards reauthorization during the 109th United States Congress.
During the 2004 presidential campaign, Madden was a member of the communications team directing President George W. Bush’s re-election effort, serving as the president’s campaign spokesman for regional, national and international news organizations.
Madden originally hails from Yonkers, NY and now resides in Washington, DC.
