Joseph Caruso
Senior Vice President
Joseph Caruso is a Senior Vice President in the Public Affairs Division at The Glover Park Group. With a background in finance and extensive experience working in the financial services sector, he currently manages the firm’s growing financial services practice. Since joining The Glover Park Group, Caruso has overseen strategic communications efforts on behalf of a wide range of financial services clients and around large financial transactions. Currently, he manages a national public affairs campaign on behalf of the Private Equity Council, a Washington DC-based trade association representing 13 large private equity firms on matters of public policy.
Caruso has served clients ranging from Intercontinental Exchange, an operator of global futures exchanges, where he led message development and media relations amidst intense Congressional scrutiny of energy markets; to the Ad Hoc Committee of GM Bondholders, where he executed an integrated communications strategy on behalf of GM’s unsecured creditors to ensure equitable treatment of their interests throughout GM’s highly politically-charged restructuring. Caruso has also been heavily involved in trade issues, working on behalf of Stand Up For Steel, a labor-management coalition focused on elevating fair trade issues in the national political dialogue, and the Alliance for American Manufacturing, for whom he helped create, develop and execute a national voter advocacy campaign that included the production of a series of town hall events in early voting and swing states in the 2008 election cycle and a candidates’ forum on manufacturing days before Pennsylvania’s Democratic Presidential Primary.
Prior to joining The Glover Park Group, Caruso worked on Wall Street, most recently as a Senior Analyst for Goldman Sachs, working in their Special Situations Group. Prior to that, he served as a Senior Risk Consultant for Ernst & Young in their financial services practice.
Caruso holds a Masters degree in campaign management and communications from the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. He also holds an MBA from Union College in New York, and a BS in mathematics, also from Union College.
