CFO and Managing Director
Cara McVie is CFO and a Managing Director at The Glover Park Group, with a background in corporate strategy and investing.
McVie focuses on the strategy and finances of GPG. She provides GPG’s board of directors and senior management with a strategic perspective, financial understanding, and comprehensive performance analytics of the business. She heads the Accounting and Finance group of the Corporate Operations division; leads financial forecasting planning and reporting, develops and enhances financial systems, manages initiatives tied to optimizing operational results, and supporting business growth.
McVie started her career as a Consultant with Bain and Company, a global strategy consulting firm. She worked on corporate growth, turnaround, and profit improvement strategies for clients in a mix of industries, including media and entertainment, airlines, financial services, utilities, apparel, confectionery consumer goods, and lodging. While at Bain, she spent two years working abroad, in Bain’s Paris and Sydney offices. Following business school, McVie joined Capital Research and Management, the fund managers of the American Funds, the largest mutual fund family in the US. She worked as an Investment Analyst, performing fundamental equity research and valuation in the medical technology industry, and making and advising on investments in the industry. McVie began advising GPG in 2004 and joined the company in 2005.
McVie graduated with highest honors from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. She received her MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
