Prior to joining GPG NY, Kay was Chief of Staff to Congressman Anthony Weiner (9th District), and was responsible for overseeing communications and legislative operations for the Congressman. Kay previously served as an Assistant Commissioner in the Bloomberg Administration, where she was the Spokesperson for the Department of Transportation. During her three-year tenure at DOT, she directed major media events and handled daily frontline communications for the agency responsible for New York City’s infrastructure. She was a key spokesperson during the 2005 Transit Strike. Before the DOT, Kay worked in branding and strategy at Lee Hunt (since renamed Razorfish), at MTV Networks and as the Spokesperson/Director of Public Affairs for the Union Square BID. She also served as Communications Director for a NJ State Senate Race (SD 25). A NYC native, Kay grew up on the Upper Westside where she attended public schools and graduated from the Bronx High School of Science. Kay received a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. She was a member of the CORO Leadership Class of 2007 and currently sits on the board of the non-profit organization Shine Global.
