She recently joined the firm’s growing public affairs division, bringing over 20 years of experience in building communications and media strategies around critical public policy issues. Before joining the Glover Park Group from PBS, Anbender was Chief of Staff to the President, Pat Mitchell.  Prior to her work at PBS, Anbender served for six years as a Director in Burson-Marsteller’s public affairs practice where she led the firm’s work for PBS and other public media organizations.  At Burson-Marsteller she also worked with a variety of industry associations involved in federal and state regulatory efforts along with many corporations which required effective communications to audiences of policy makers and opinion leaders.  During the Clinton Administration, Anbender worked as Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the US Department of Justice, managing communications efforts around major legislative initiatives and cases.  Anbender also served as Counselor to the Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and as Director of Public Affairs at the agency.  Before joining the Department of Justice, she was a key strategist and Press Secretary to Florida Governor Lawton Chiles and served as Press Secretary for the Democratic National Committee. Anbender graduated with High Honors from the University of Michigan and currently lives in Washington, DC.
