In the post-September 11th world, Americans are more concerned than
ever before about threats of terrorism at home and have demanded that
measures be taken to ensure our nation’s security. But U.S.
military action in Afghanistan and Iraq has diverted attention from
one of the most pressing security issues facing our nation: the threat
posed by unsecured weapons and weapons-grade material in the former
Soviet Union. The Nuclear Threat Reduction Campaign, a program of
the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation and The Justice Project,
worked with members of Congress to draft legislation to account for,
secure and eliminate weapons of mass destruction in the former Soviet
states and thereby prevent such material from falling into the hands
of terrorists. To amplify the message that homeland security begins
abroad, Glover Park Group worked with NTRC to support the legislation
through media outreach, placement of op-ed pieces and development
of print advertising.
